SWORD Rally
The Cinco de Mayo celebrations in San Antonio did not go as customarily planned...they were better, as SWORD united from all over the state of Texas to rally for Christ’s fame and glory. The San Antonio young adults with SWORD planned their second annual SWORD Rally at the tourist hotspot Riverwalk, with their theme focusing on Elijah and his amazing experience with God “Under the Broom Tree”
Based on 1 Kings 19, a message was given on Friday night (May 4, 2007) by Pastor Danny Urrutia of the Willard Street COG7 in San Antonio, Texas. Danny encouraged us to arise from spiritual, emotional, or any kind of depression in our lives and work for Christ – not matter what |
struggles, Danny reminded us to strive on in service to God now more than ever before. On Sabbath morning (May 5, 2007), SWORD rallied in an outdoor tent at the Muskogee Street church in San Antonio, Texas and we were blessed by another encouraging message from Pastor Joe Davila of Austin, Texas. On Sabbath afternoon, SWORD headed to the Arneson Theatre Riverwalk, in downtown SA for refreshing Christian concerts from Faith 257 and the Essence Band (Casa de Mesias COG7, Corpus Christi, TX). This Riverwalk Rally was not only for COG7 SWORD but we had a drama team from the Fortress Church, a non-denominational church in San Antonio, perform awe-inspiring dramas for tourists, church folk and SWORD members alike. The Riverwalk Rally was topped off by an awesome |
worship session with the SWORD worship team and another message for non-believers/tourists inviting them to accept Christ as their Savior.
In the evening, SWORD headed to a local downtown park filled with many homeless people and people waiting in line for the city buses, and we sat down and spoke and ministered to many people. This was the most awesome blessing in itself because we learned that evening, to put what we learned into practice. It’s time for us to take the Church outside of the church walls! |
